Rebel TXi tutorial and manual

DO NOT INSTALL BATTERY IN REVERSE POLARITY (+ -)

DO NOT INSERT ANY FOREIGN METALLIC OBJECTS INTO THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS OF THE CAMERA, ACCESSORIES, CONNECTING CABLES, ETC

IF EXCESSIVE HEAT, SMOKE, OR FUMES ARE EMITTED DURING BATTERY PACK RECHARGING. IMMEDIATELY UNPLUG THE BATTERY CHARGER FROM THE POWER OUTLET TO STOP THE RECHARGING AND PREVENT A FIRE.

THE BATTERY IS A LIQUID CORE BATTERY, ANYTHING THAT COMES OUT OF IT IS TOXIC AND DANGEROUS. BE FUCKING CAREFUL

BEWARE OF ANY OBJECT EMITTING EXTREME HEAT. CAMERA PARTS WILL MELT

DO NOT DROP THE CAMERA, AND I DO MEAN DO NOT DROP THE CAMERA

DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN OR AN EXTREMELY BRIGHT LIGHT SOURCE THROUGH THE CAMERA OR LENS. DOING SO WILL DESTROY THE CHIP INSIDE THE CAMERA

DO NOT STORE THE CAMERA OR LENS IN DUSTY OR HUMID PLACES

DO NOT LEAVE EQUIPMENT INSIDE A CAR UNDER THE HOT SUN OR NEAR A HEAT SOURCE.

DO NOT LEAVE A LENS OR LENS-ATTACHED CAMERA UNDER THE SUN WITHOUT THE LENS CAP ON. OTHERWISE, THE LENS MAY CONCENTRATE THE SUN'S RAYS AND CAUSE A FIRE

THE CAMERA IS NOT WATERPROOF

DO NOT USE CLEARNERS THAT CONTAIN ORGANIC SOLVENTS TO CLEAN THE CAMERA BODY OR LENS. ONLY USE A CAN OF AIR TO CLEAN

IF THERE IS CONDENSATION IN THE CAMERA, REMOVE BATTERY AND LENS TO PREVENT ELECTRICAL DAMAGE AND THEN WAIT TILL CONDENSATION DISSIPATES

DO NOT RECHARGE THE BATTERY FOR LONGER THAN 24 HOURS

some important points:

Shutter button is the place you press to take a picture

Main dial is where you adjust aperture and shutter speeds

The power switch is the place you turn on the camera

The mode dial is to adjust various functionality in the camera, like automatic or manual

The EF and EF-S Lens mount index is used to align the lens together to the body in order not to screw up the lens. matching the points together will allow the lens to fit together.

The focus mode switch allows switching between manual and automatic focus

the Digital terminal allows downloading using a mini USB to USB cable

The Lens release button can be pressed to release the locking mechanism that holds the lens and the body together

Dioptric adjustment knob is used to correct eye focus issues, the user should not wear eye glasses while taking photographs

The aperture/exposure button is used when you want to switch the main dial between changing aperture exposure

The AF point selection allows you to switch on and off the sensors the camera use to auto focus

The cross keys allows you to change the ISO (film speed), WB (white balance), Metering mode (adjustments to auto exposure), and AF mode, which allows you to switch between constant auto focus or one-off

The drive mode button allows you to switch between multiple shots consecutively or timer basis

The menu button allows you to access all the option in the menu

The AF point selection is important to indicate which sensors are activated

The image quality defines what images you are taking. RAW is the biggest file with the most information. Large/Fine is the best quality JPEG you can take.

The shutter speed is indicated in 1/125 or 1/125th of a second. any fraction is in fractions of a second. whole numbers with " marks are full seconds. B is opened until you release the button.

Fstop indicated the aperture of the lens. The smaller the fraction in the Fstop, the larger the aperture.

AF focus points are sensors which are used to lock focus

Shutter speed and Aperture tells you the read outs of the settings on the camera

The exposure level indicator indicates how you are exposing the shot. the bar being below the down point arrow indicates proper exposure

the Focus confirmation light indicates when the auto focus mechanism locks onto something.

The various modes changes the camera settings (which can all be adjusted in manual) to best suit the situation you are photographing

insert the battery (facing the right way, or else you will short circuit the camera)

and the cf card (make sure it's facing the right way, it should slide easily, no force needed, or else you will break the pins inside the camera)

Turn the dial in order to adjust the eye piece to compensate your eye

to attach the lens, match the dots on the lens and body, and then twist clockwise

In the 4th tab of the menu, there is a function that allows you to format the CF card, so you don't have to manually delete each photo

In the 3rd tab of the menu, you can set the preview time after you take a photo

This is the proper way of holding a camera, any other way, you risk improper exposure

TIPS

to auto focus, hold the Shutter Button half way and the auto focus will activate and lock on

To use custom white balance, photograph something that's white in the light you are shooting in and make sure it's properly exposed. Then in then switch to custom white balance mode and you can set it to the image of the white you took. then the following shots will be adjusted to that white balance.
